In this article, we will guide you step by step to permanently delete your Facebook account. If you are tired of this social network or simply want to take a break, you are in the right place. We will explain the current process, as Facebook has changed its procedures since our first video in 2015.

Why delete your Facebook account?

Facebook is one of the most popular social networks, but it is not uncommon to want to disconnect or simply leave this platform permanently. The reasons can vary: a growing awareness of privacy impact, reducing time spent on social media, or simply a desire to detach from it.

Steps to permanently delete your Facebook account

Here are the updated steps to permanently delete your Facebook account.
Before starting, it is important to note that this action is irreversible. Once your account is deleted, you will not be able to recover your data, photos, or information associated with this account.

  1. Go to your Facebook settings
  2. Open Facebook on your computer or mobile app. Click on the dropdown menu at the top right, then on “Settings & Privacy” and finally “Settings”.

  3. Go to the “Your Facebook Information” section
  4. In the left menu, select “Your Facebook Information”. You will then find several options, including the possibility to deactivate or delete your account.

  5. Choose “Delete Your Account and Information”
  6. Click on “Delete Your Account and Information”. You will then have the option to download your Facebook data before deletion if you wish.

  7. Confirm deletion
  8. Facebook will ask you to confirm your decision by entering your password and following a few additional steps. Once these steps are completed, your account will be permanently deleted after a 30-day period.

What happens after deletion

After deleting your account, Facebook implements a 30-day period during which you can cancel this deletion. During this period, if you log back into your account, the deletion will be canceled, and you can continue using Facebook as before.

What to do before deleting your account?

Before permanently deleting your account, it may be useful to take some precautions. For example, consider saving any photos and information you want to keep. You can do this by downloading an archive of your data via Facebook settings.

Alternatives to permanent deletion

If you are not ready to completely delete your Facebook account, you can opt for temporary deactivation. This allows you to suspend your presence on the platform while keeping all your information to recover later if you change your mind.
